A country backing the switch.
Uganda was an early mover in African e-mobility. Through its National E-Mobility Strategy — led from the Office of the President — the government is steering public transport and motorcycles toward electric, with a target to fully transition over the next two decades. State manufacturer Kiira Motors now builds electric Kayoola buses at its Jinja plant, while private operators such as Gogo, Zembo and Spiro run the battery-swap networks keeping e-bodas moving. Locally made electric vehicles, batteries and charging stations carry tax breaks and VAT exemptions, with multi-year incentives for manufacturers — all aimed at making clean transport affordable.
